Support for Ukrainian Families
Grieving War Losses

A Silent Crisis in Grief Support

Over 1.25 million Ukrainians have sought refuge in Germany since 2022. Many have lost family members to the war - fathers, daughters, friends.

Their grief is immediate and deep, yet often goes unrecognized due to language, cultural, or bureaucratic barriers.

It travels with people — shaped by trauma, silence, and the pain of being far from home. For many, there’s no space to mourn, no shared language, and no support that truly sees what they carry.

The need for culturally sensitive, multilingual grief support is urgent - and growing.

GriefCircle’s
Commitment

GriefCircle offers peer-led grief support that removes cultural and language barriers. With professional guidance and a proven model, we train and accompany individuals from affected communities - starting now with Ukrainian participants in Germany.

All sessions are in English. No prior formal training required — empathy and motivation matter most.

A Frequently Ask Questions

01 Do I need previous experience to become a grief facilitator?

No prior experience is needed.

We welcome anyone with a compassionate heart, willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to support others. Our training is designed for both beginners and those with some background in counseling, caregiving, or support work.

No, this is not therapy. And you are not expected to be a therapist.

Grief facilitation is about holding spacedeep listening, and being present without trying to fix or analyze. You will be trained in peer-support tools, not clinical methods. If a mourner needs therapy, we help refer them to appropriate professionals.

Absolutely not.

From day one, you’ll be part of a supportive community of fellow volunteers, trainers, and mentors. You’ll have regular check-ins, peer practice sessions, and guidance throughout your journey. Grief work is sacred and we walk it together.

Yes, of course!

If you’re currently grieving or simply wish to experience what we offer, you can join our support groups as a participant without committing to the training. Our spaces are open, inclusive, and gently held.

That’s completely fine. Everyone is welcome.

GriefCircle offers support in English for international participants and volunteers. Whether you’re Ukrainian or not, if you feel called to be part of this vision, you belong here.
